Pipeline Support

LINCOLN COMPANY PERFORMS PIPELINE SUPPORT. GROUTING TECHNIQUES ARE USED IN POOR SOIL CONDITIONS TO COMPACT SUPPORTING SOILS UNDER A PIPELINE TO STABILIZE SINKING PIPELINES. SINKING PIPELINES CAN ALLOW FOR WATER INFILTRATION OR LOSS THROUGH OPEN PIPE JOINTS.

  • STABILIZE SINKING PIPELINE
  • STABILIZE EXISTING BELOWGRADE PIPELINES

Grouting is the most utilized grouting technique used today to stabilize existing below grade pipelines. Compaction Grouting is the grouting technique to densify or compact supporting soils to increase its bearing capacity.

How the Process Works...

Injection begins at a depth where stable soil is found beneath the structure or pipeline. Steel injection pipes are inserted to the bottom of the zone to be stabilized. Pipes are either drilled or driven into place and then retracted a few inches to open the end of the injection pipe and allow a low volume, high pressure pump to inject the stiff grout. As the grout bulb size increases the soil above the bulb is heaved upwards against the underside of the pipeline or structure.

When poor soil conditions extend beyond a few feet below a pipeline, grouting is performed in stages at successive elevations. For this instance, pipes are inserted to a depth just above stable soil where the grouting will begin. As the pipes are withdrawn in pre-determined lifts, the grout is injected, densifying the soils at each elevation until reaching the underside of the pipe.

As soil types vary so do the grouting techniques to perform pipeline support. View the soils grouting listing section of our webpage for a detailed description of the techniques for soil stabilization.

Advantages
  • No excavation
  • Pipeline grouting can be done from WITHIN larger diameter storm lines, eliminating roadway traffic interruptions.
  • Grouting eliminates the need to relocate utilities, sanitary, storms, curbs, gutters, or fiber optics.
  • No trench boxes, no backfilling
  • No paving
  • No pipe flow disruption or diverse required
  • Minimal project duration and disruption
  • Low costs compared to excavation methods
  • No extensive landscaping efforts required
  • Performed on Ductile, P.V.C., R.C.P.
