Grout Cut-Off Walls

CUT-OFF WALLS CONTROL GROUND WATER FLOW THROUGH ROCK AND SOILS BY REDUCING THE SOILS HYDRAULIC CONDUCTIVITY BY INJECTING GROUT SOLUTIONS UNDER PRESSURE.

Grout cut-off walls control ground water flow through rock and soils. Cut-off walls in rock are typically placed alongside and below dams or when tunneling and excavating through rock.

Excavations in soils usually require the cut-off wall to be constructed in permeable soils using environmentally benign grouts. Grout wall is formed by injecting grout solutions under pressure into the ground, filling pores in the formation and hardening, thus reducing hydraulic conductivity of a formation. Grouting products include cement, bentonites, silicates, microfine cements and acrylate grouts.

Cut-off walls are also regularly used to control and limit the migration of contaminated ground waters as well.
