Elevator pit water infiltration is a constant problem. Water often infiltrates elevator pits through cracks, cold joints, and honey combs. Actively leaking cracks can be sealed permanently with water activated polyurethane foams as described in our Water Loss and Infiltration Control page.
Not so typical is water leaking through and around the elevator’s piston sleeve casing and joints in the floor slab. Lincoln Company, LLC has a long and successful history of sealing elevator pits and the most difficult of water infiltration through these areas. Techniques have included Permeation Grouting to create a monolithic soil mass below the elevator pit for Water Cut-Off and in advance of excavation to inhibit soil loss.
