Abandoned Pipe Filling
LINCOLN COMPANY FILLS MANHOLES AND PIPELINES FOR ABANDONEMENT USING A VARIETY OF FOAM AND CEMENTITIOUS PRODUCTS.
- FILL MANHOLES
- FILL PIPELINE
- PIPE ABANDONMENT
- PIPE FILLING
Due to volume constraints and deterioration, sewer and stormlines are routinely filled with cement grouts for abandonment. Rarely removed other than for environmental concerns or future development plans filling manholes and pipelines are cost efficient. Left open, these lines can collapse over time causing soil settlement below roads, sidewalks, and structures. Standing water can become environmental problems and water can migrate through the lines unrestricted contaminating groundwater.
Often only portions of a pipeline is abandoned between manholes. Bulkheads are constructed at each end of the pipe and the grout is pumped from one structure to the other in calculated volumes to ensure complete pipeline filling. Admixtures such as anti-washouts for pumping underwater, shrinkage compensators and to increase pumpability are used to insure the voids are completely filled.
Clay Tile Grouting, clay field tiles are typically a problem to side development activities due to their reason for installation, they carry water. Pipe abandonment should be carefully investigated prior to filling to evaluate any adverse affects that pipe filling may cause elsewhere.
